Unfortunately football throws up things like this. You can't always perform and always win. Sometimes you have to come through some tough times.

No I expect us to be able to find someone that isn't potentially going to fail straight away.

I think with our resources we shouldn't be anywhere near where we are, playing the way we are.

I can't find any excuses for Bilic.

Complacency , a Yid-like arrogance of finishing 7th once making us above all this, and most of all the stadium. That's about it.

Re: So where has it all gone wrong?
We signed too many players for a domestic only campaign. As a result there are too many players causing a number of issues. A few of them being:

Bilic not knowing his favourite eleven causing uncertainty amongst players.

Starting eleven naturally playing for themselves due to the competition so team build up play is struggling (see unrealistic shots from Lanzini, Antonio yesterday)

Injuries at wing back nobody could have helped.

Large influx of international players likely causing factions amongst the group. Disjointed sressing room.

That ia the end of the thread, but quite frankly once we we're knocked our vs Corsa this became clear to me.

If we get rid of Slav I pity any manager having to manage a team in that concrete monstrosity ... what mug would take that on

So you're happy to be in a situation where we could potentially change managers every couple of months if things don't go our way?

Not for me. Not for me at all.

We've moved on from Allardyce and stability. Bilic was meant to take us forward, and did. It was fantastic last season even if we fizzled out and fell short of what we could and possible should have achieved if decisions went our way.

This is the worst start to a season ever and there are so many baffling reasons to be concerned that Bilic has lost the plot, or players aren't willing to fight for him like last season. Mourinho had it at Chelsea. Doesn't mean they are bad managers, just that the position needs consideration.

Sticking by Bilic no matter what is brainless. We are at great risk of losing Payet with a bad season, and as much as Bilic is likeable, that means fuck all when considering his position. The only thing that matters is results and performances and he is failing horribly. There are plenty of good managers that would want this job and we shouldn't curb our ambitions due to a blokes personality.

Re: So where has it all gone wrong?
Agreed...

Buying Crsp squad fillers...instead of quality players...especially in MR we needed upgrading cor Noble...Kouyate...Collins...

Too many wingers...No quality striker...

14 players in...but little quality...

Selling Tomkins...mishandling Burke & Oxford.Byram....no RB...o

Tore...Zaza... never Prem quality...

And...WTF the Sakho situation poorly handled...should have been closely monitored in off season...

Re: So where has it all gone wrong?
I was happy with the Ayew signing but we needed another 3 or 4 very good players and we signed players that no other clubs really wanted. This isn't the only reason we are struggling but it's a big factor.

Re: So where has it all gone wrong?
Agree Alex we shouldn't be relying on only the transfer window, it doesn't always happen over night. Unfortunately the last good youth striker we had was Defoe and like most clubs we rely on a good transfer window to progress. I'm not saying player recruitment is easy, but we have so far shown only one player (Arthur) is decent out of double figure recruitment. Fernandez might be ok, but the rest are absolute toilet and the recruitment team need to take responsibility for it because they are paid to do this job.sullivan is the main person behind the transfers and u can see the result on the pitch. 3-4 quality targets would have been better then all these try-outs and free transfers. No wonder bilic has a selection headache.

Because he plays dinosaur football as opposed to decent football and just about avoids relegation. #fuckingobvious

No, all the signs are that Zaza was on the initial shortlist all Summer, the club say they followed him for a year. The fact is that Zaza's price is ultimately right in line with Benteke or Bacca or any of the other options we were looking at. The truth is that whatever £25m striker the club ended up settling on, there was always a chance they would struggle (I don't think Benteke or Bacca were the right player for us either). We got the proper striker you crave, it just isn't working out.

The lesson is not to expect the transfer market (or whatever you spend in it) to guarantee a magical cure on the pitch - no such cure exists and after decades of seeing the process we should surely know that by now?!!

Re: So where has it all gone wrong?
not going to go over the ground, injuries, new signings etc put forward.

I like Bilic. But it is always interesting to see how a manager reacts when form dips.

Team selections and substitutions have looked a bit panicky.

Genuine question, what is his style of management? I am not sure.

I can see exactly what Pochettino implemented at Southampton & Spurs, a 4-2-3-1 formation based on a high pressing game that doesn't let the opposition settle.

Re: So where has it all gone wrong?
There's too much money in the top-flight now which is why relegation is catastrophic; especially with this mental new TV deal.

With this being our opening season in our new ground; relegation is unthinkable and if there is no improvement over the next two months then Bilic needs to go.

I keep hearing about all this loyalty bollocks but where was Bilic's loyalty to us when he fucked off for more money in '97?

If he gets the elbow in the first week of December because we've hardly picked-up any more points then he'll deserve it.

I really like the bloke - and I'm sure that he regrets his actions in '97 - and I really do hope that he turns things around... But time is ticking.

To some, I'm a prideless gutless wanker for holding these views but I'm just being pragmatic and fair.

grasshopper 4:37 Sun Oct 2
Re: So where has it all gone wrong?
Alex - there is a reason we didn't pay 25m for zaza because they are not convinced he is good enough and they were not prepared to pay proper money to get a proper striker like benteke. He is what you call another Sullivan punt. Zaza is a cheap stop gap who they hope turns out good when we needed to spend proper money on a proven forward who scores goals like benteke. We had the money for benteke but choose the cheap option by going for loaning zaza
